Indeed, the value of the book as a serious work is enhanced by its readability and unpretentious style. It may well be one of the most valuable contributions yet made to a real understanding of what blindness is--and what it isn't. Regardless of all of this, Seeing Summer is worth reading--if for nothing else. Perhaps it goes without saying but I will say it anyway its appeal is not limited to children. It is a must for those who want to increase their understanding of blindness, or for those who simply want to read a well written children's book.
